Some celebrities have expressed concern about the country’s rising cost of living, which has been exacerbated by rising fuel and diesel prices, as well as limited energy supplies.
Recall that there has been a gasoline crisis in Nigeria for the past month as a result of the importation of ‘filthy’ premium motor spirit, which has spoiled the vehicles of many Nigerians. This is despite the fact that the already inadequate power supply has gotten significantly worse, with the national grid collapsing twice this week.
Paul Okoye, aka Rudeboy, a singer, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the amount of money he spends on fueling his generator. “Ordinary house, I am spending N1.4m naira for (sic) diesel,” he tweeted on social media. “Diesel is the new high-end.”
“No light, gasoline price has gone up, scarcity, Academic Staff Union of Universities is on strike, food prices have gone up, housing costs are stupidly high, the security level of lives and property is alarming, and no jobs,” Debo Adedayo, aka Mr Macaroni, tweeted. Salaries haven’t been paid in a long time. Nigerians are going through a lot right now!”
“800 Naira per litre for diesel,” actress and broadcaster Toke Makinwa remarked on Twitter. My generator has been running since the morning of yesterday. “Which way do you want to go, Nigeria?”
Stephanie Coker, an actress and TV host, posted on Twitter, “The bill for my automobile as a result of faulty fuel is N3.7m; a 2020 car!” N780 is the new diesel. It is likely to increase now that the electricity grid has failed. I passed past the Lekki toll gate, and it said (on a sign) that tolls would restart on April Fool’s Day (April 1). “Are we stupid or are we being fooled?” says the narrator.
“Nigeria will humble you,” musician Timi Dakolo posted on Twitter, sharing a new message he received from his service apartment. The service apartment stated that they will not be doing any further servicing. Everyone should obtain their own generator as soon as possible. “Cancel the contract that specifies no personal generator in the facility,” they said.
