“…as he shuts London down
Before taking the stage to enthrall the massive crowd who had gathered for his sold-out event yesterday night, pop artist Davido promised that he would not only shut down London, but also make “history tonight.”
And, true to his word, he has made history by having the popular O2 Arena in London renamed after the Nigerian pop star for a single night.
The show’s organizers announced the historic event on Allontheboard, saying it was in honor of the ‘Aye’ crooner’s return to London. He hasn’t been to London in almost three years.
“To commemorate Davido’s return to London with his Champion Sound for one night only.” The announcement said, “The O2 will become The Davido 2.”
Meanwhile, Davido invaded the event site with a slew of Nigerian celebrities and singers, including Eniola Badamus, Cubana Chief Priest, Adekunle Gold, and his daughter.
Davido and Teni The Entertainer performed a duet called “Ego Not for You” to the delight of the show’s approximately 20,000 attendees. He also appeared on stage with Makoyun and Zlatan. When Ckay-yo took the stage to perform his hit song “Love Nwantiti,” the audience went wild. For those who attended, it was a show at the O2 Arena that they will never forget.
Surprisingly, while Davido was in London performing what he does best, Wizkid was in Dubai giving his fans a gift the same night.
