The processing period for work permits and resident visas in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been shortened from thirty days to five days nationwide. The Work Bundle platform, a project by many government departments and federal bodies, began its second phase on Tuesday, June 11. The purpose of this site is to expedite the pre-renewal of work permits for current employees as well as the hiring of new staff for private companies and business owners.
It should be noted that in an effort to promote more flexible and efficient government, the new platform brings together a number of government agencies and departments, including the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, Emirates Health Services, and the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority.
- Five service platforms have now been reduced to one single platform.
- This single platform now offers eight services to the applicants.
- The new platform eliminated the need to submit 16 documents in place of just five under the new regime. Also, 15 steps were reduced to just five.
- Thanks to the platform, seven required visits were reduced to only two.
The Work Bundle platform’s initial phase was only introduced in Dubai in April.
Undersecretary for Human Resources Affairs at the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization Khalil Khoori stated, “Companies responded strongly to the initial launch of the Work Bundle platform.”
The service is currently available in each of the seven Emirates. Over 700,000 businesses and over seven million employees both domestically and outside will be served by the new platform.
