Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch tied the knot for the sixth time with a retired molecular biologist who was born in Russia.
In a ceremony held on Saturday at his vineyard estate in Bel Air, California, Murdoch, 93, and Elena Zhukova, 67, exchanged vows—less than three months after the couple announced their engagement.
Photos of the bride and groom, clad in an off-the-shoulder white gown and black suit and yellow tie, were released by Murdoch’s tabloid The Sun. Robert Thomson, the CEO of News Corp, and Robert Kraft, the owner of the New England Patriots American football team, were present at the ceremony.
Actor and model Jerry Hall and Murdoch’s fourth marriage ended in divorce in 2022. The millionaire has previously been married to Australian Patricia Booker, a flight attendant, Scottish-Australian journalist Anna Torv, and television businesswoman Wendi Deng, who was born in China. The six-child Murdoch called off the wedding a few weeks after announcing his engagement to Ann Lesley Smith, a conservative radio personality who had previously worked as a dental hygienist.
Alexander Zhukov, a Russian politician and millionaire energy investor, was Zhukova’s former husband. Murdoch, who inherited Adelaide’s The News newspaper in the 1950s and went on to build a global media empire, resigned as CEO of News Corp.’s media holdings and the parent company of Fox News in November. After Murdoch abruptly resigned, his son Lachlan took over as head of the media stable, which includes Fox News, The Times of London, and The Wall Street Journal.
