Peter and Paul Okoye, better known as P-Square, are Nigerian singing twin sensations who split up again more than two years after their widely reported reunion.
In a recent interview with a well-known FM station, famed musician and half of PSquare, Paul Nonso Okoye, aka Rudeboy, revealed the latest breakup with his twin brother, Peter Okoye, or Mr P.
The twin brothers initially got divorced in 2016. They began their musical careers in 1999 and ruled the African music scene for more than ten years.
Following a four-year schism and other public conflicts that alienated fans and coworkers, the brothers made amends in 2021.Rudeboy Verifies PSquare’s Split
Paul (Rudeboy) released songs like “Fire Fire” and “Nkenji Keke” after their first breakup, while Peter (Mr P) released songs like “For My Head” and “Cool It Down.”
With the publication of the song “Ejeajo” in 2014, the 42-year-old singer disclosed that their issues began. T.I., a well-known American rapper and multiple Grammy winner whose real name is Clifford Harris, is featured in the song.
Rudeboy clarified that the public’s misunderstanding of who sings their songs the most contributed to their first breakup.
He clarified that there was discussion among their followers before to their collaboration with T.I. over who was the dancer and who was the songwriter—Paul Rudeboy, with the lovely voice—among them.
Rudeboy admitted that this played a part in their 2017 breakup and had an impact on their song “Ejeajo” featuring T.I. since listeners missed his distinctive voice.
This time, Jude Okoye, our older brother, who has been accused of stirring trouble among us, is not involved in this. Jude was nowhere to be seen in the photo when we returned. Not a director, not a manager, nothing. He remained alone himself.
Many people are unaware of this, which is why I constantly advise people to be cautious who they associate with, particularly those who were not present when you
“The goal of our reunion was to put out a lot of successful albums,” he stated. But for now, all I am thinking about is Rudeboy. It is not everything I would want to say, I promise you,” he said.
“I was accused of claiming that I am the singer and Peter is the dancer. I am aware that inquiries like “are you a singer or a dancer?” arise every time we travel to the airport. I was unaware that it was touching him. However, I am aware that there was a moment when we stood together and told each other to be proud of what we were doing and not let this stuff get to us. That is the part you are doing.
“We collaborated on a song called ‘Eja Jo’ with T.I. That is when the problem arose. Fifteen years later, that song has three million views to this day since people were not exposed to PSquare’s voice.
“When we got back together, I told my brother to show there and let us collaborate on the creative process since I did not want the problems that had existed previously. It was not functioning even after I informed him that we should divide up who carries the tracks evenly.
“There was calm in the new PSquare. I needed the mistakes of the past to stay in the past. However, Peter later stated that he is no longer interested in doing this. He even told me straight up that he wanted to give up. He declined when I asked whether we could make it public. What will happen, though, if I do it alone? I will be dubbed the evil person by some. I am speaking up today for that reason.
The artist claimed he was in complete control of P-Square’s upkeep and protection, but his efforts proved fruitless.
