During the Trooping the Colour ceremony last weekend, the Princess of Wales looked stunning. This was Kate Middleton’s first official public appearance since it became public that she was battling cancer. She smiled, posed for pictures, and greeted the crowd from her glass carriage. Since it was her first public appearance since Christmas Day 2023, Kate has been cautious about her appearances and has avoided being photographed by inquisitive paparazzi.
However, given that she’s not recovering well from chemotherapy treatments, royal analysts speculated that her class act may have come at a cost. In January, Kate had a scheduled abdominal surgery at The London Clinic, during which cancer was eventually found. On March 22, 2024, she announced that she had cancer. Since then, she has been receiving care.
The “immaculate” appearance Kate made at Trooping the Colour, according to royal biographer Katie Nicholl, who has covered the royal family since Kate married into it and has studied her in great detail, took a toll on her. Kate states that she is still receiving chemotherapy and is “not out of the woods” at this time.
“The princess exudes a swan-like quality; she glides on the surface, but beneath the water, I believe she paddles quite frantically quite a bit,” Nicholl observed. “It is only conceivable that a significant amount of planning, time, effort, and energy went into Saturday’s appearance.”
Kate “was on her feet for a long period of time,” and that too “in heels,” according to the royal expert. “She was watching the parade at one point when she was offered a seat, which she graciously accepted,” she continued. That is merely a small admission that she is not as fit or as powerful as she was prior to beginning this treatment.
Princess Kate donned a white Jenny Packham dress with black trim and ribbon details around the neck for the event. Philip Treacy had arranged her hair nicely in a braided bun beneath a white bonnet.
