On Saturday evening, August 3, a 29-year-old woman in Maharashtra, India, fell down a 100-foot-deep chasm. She was miraculously saved by villagers. The event happened near Borne Ghat in Satara district, allegedly when Nasreen, the victim, was taking a selfie with pals.
According to accounts, the woman was hurt and then taken to a nearby hospital.
Social media users have been sharing videos of Home Guards and neighborhood people cooperating to rescue Nasreen to safety.
In the video, rescuers are seen tossing a heavy rope down the valley, and one man is seen descending to help the injured woman get to safety. Since then, the video has gone viral and gained a lot of attention.
The frightened woman is seen being rescued by a house guard in the popular footage, and at the very end, mountaineers help drag her to safety.
There have been differing reports of what caused the fall. According to early reports, Nasreen tripped while snapping a selfie.
When the incident occurred, Nasreen, a resident of Pune, was out with friends at Borne Ghat, which is close to the Thoseghar waterfalls. She plunged into a gorge that was 100 feet deep, according to The Times of India.
This incident comes after the terrible death of 26-year-old Instagram influencer Aanvi Kamdar, who was making a video near the Kumbhe waterfall in Raigad, a few weeks prior. During such explorations, travelers are advised by the local authorities to refrain from engaging in risky behavior.
In Maharashtra, there have been several incidents lately involving falls into gorges. A woman lost her life in June when her car plunged into a 300-foot chasm close to the Dutt Dham Temple hill. Influencer Aanvi Kamdar was filming a video at the Kumbhe waterfall in July when she fell into a 300-foot gorge.
Authorities are emphasizing how important it is to exercise caution and safety, particularly during the monsoon season when the terrain can be very dangerous.
