The Thai Airways aircraft’s air conditioner malfunctioned, forcing passengers to pant for air, which sparked a panic inside.
Before the authorities decided to cancel the flight completely, the passengers were forced to spend two horrifying hours inside what they referred to as a scorching “sauna” plane.
On July 25, a Boeing 777 experienced an incident due to an issue with its air conditioning system on Thai Airways flight TG 917. According to ViralPress, the aircraft had to take off from London and was scheduled to land in Bangkok at 9:25 p.m.
As the crew worked to fix the malfunction, the passengers found themselves stranded in what can only be described as a true steam room.
According to University of Exeter student Warawalan Maksaen, 26, who was confined on the aircraft with the other passengers, “people were stuck on the plane and couldn’t leave.”
We were unable to breathe due to the heat. You can exit the sauna whenever you’d want, at least. This seemed a lot like torture,” the woman remarked.
Another traveler reported that the intense heat inside the aircraft caused one person to have a panic attack and caused others to perspire heavily.
According to Maksaen, the situation was exacerbated by the fact that the passengers were not given any food or water during those hours.
After two hours, a flight attendant gave the passengers water and opened the door to let in fresh air.
After needlessly spending too much time confined in the heated airplane, the passengers were asked to leave at 11 p.m. (local time) due to the lack of available technicians.
Following their disembarkation, the passengers were faced with two unfortunate options. “We have two options: either we sleep at the airport until the new flight time, or we take the bus to a hotel,” Maksaen stated.
“I went to the bus station with a number of other passengers to wait for a ride to a motel. The final group of passengers waited in vain until the final three buses came at two in the morning, she said, and the airline offered them no assistance.
Nevertheless, the airline’s hotel had only eight rooms available. Maksaen, who was traveling alone, was forced to locate her own accommodations as a result.
“Thai Airlines really let me down.” After the occurrence, I sent a complaint email because of their terrible service, Maksaen stated.
“I would prefer not to fly with this airline again, so I chose to accept a compensation offer in the form of cash or a discount voucher for my next flight,” the woman continued.
