Connie Chiume, a well-known South African actress who starred in the hugely successful film Black Panther, has passed away.
She was seventy-two years old.
On August 6, 2024, a Tuesday, Chiume passed away in Johannesburg’s Garden City Hospital.
The actress’s family sought privacy as they grieve the enormous loss in a statement posted on her Instagram profile on Tuesday, confirming her death.
The statement says, “The Chiume Family is sorry to notify you of the demise of the highly regarded and honored actress Connie Chiume.”
Today, August 6, 2024, Connie Chiume, 72, departed from this life in Garden City Hospital. The family will provide further information and want privacy during this trying time.
In response to Chiume’s passing, Nigerian Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw said on her Instagram page how much she admired the man.
“NO!” is what she typed. Peace be with you, Mom Connie. You were cherished and greatly loved. I send my sympathies to South Africa; a lovely spirit has been gone there. Rest well, my friend!
In addition, the South African government paid tribute to the actress’s family and coworkers on its official X handle during her grief.
“We extend our sincere sympathies to the Connie Chiume family, friends, and coworkers of the renowned and multi-award winning actress. Her extraordinary efforts will live on in memory, the South African government declared.
Over the course of her multi-decade career, Chiume appeared in a number of hit TV series, including Yizo Yizo, Zone 14, Rhythm City, Housekeepers, and Mohlolohadi, which helped make her a household figure.
Her performance in Black Panther and its follow-up, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, have left a lasting impression on the world stage.
