On Friday, August 23, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his one-day visitation to the war-torn Ukraine. Since Ukraine gained its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, this is the first time an Indian prime minister has visited the country. Additionally, Modi’s visit occurs while Russia and Ukraine continue to be at war.

During his visit to Ukraine, Indian Prime Minister Modi will make a noteworthy stop at the Ukraine National Museum’s multimedia Martyrologist exhibit. Modi would pay tribute here to the children of Ukraine whose lives were lost in the full-scale Russian assault.
Modi will honor Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at the A.V. Fomin Botanical Garden after his visit to the museum.
Next, he will go to the Mariyinsky Palace, where Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, will greet him.
The two leaders will then have a closed-door discussion to talk about important matters. There will be high-level delegation meetings afterward, and significant talks about bilateral cooperation are anticipated.
To formalize agreements and collaborations, New Delhi and Kiev will exchange documents.
Modi stated in Poland that the ongoing conflicts in West Asia and Ukraine were “a matter of deep concern for all of us” prior to his arrival in Ukraine.
“India is adamant that no issue can be resolved in combat. The greatest threat to humanity today is the loss of innocent life in any kind of catastrophe. During a joint press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Modi stated, “We support dialogue and diplomacy for the early restoration of peace and stability.”
