Officially, Miss USA 2024 has been revealed! Miss Michigan Alma Cooper has won the coveted title and crown after defeating Miss Kentucky Connor Perry, Miss Oklahoma Danika Christopherson, and 47 other contestants. The 22-year-old graduated from Stanford University with a master’s degree in data science. During the competition, she disclosed that she is “the daughter of a migrant worker, a proud Afro-Latina woman”.
Cooper will now compete in the Miss Universe Pageant, which is set for November, as a representative of the United States. “If there’s anything that my life and my mother have taught me, it’s that your circumstances never define your destiny: You can make success accessible through demanding excellence,” she told the panel of judges during the Q&A session.
The Miss USA pageant featured swimsuit and evening gown competitions, and it took place on Sunday at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The glamorous occasion was held just three months after the organization’s reputation was severely damaged by the resignations of UmaSofia Srivastava and Noelia Voigt.
Back in May, Voigt claimed a hostile work atmosphere at the company and gave his resignation as a result of mental health issues. Her eight-page resignation letter went viral online when she posted an announcement of her departure on Instagram.
Voigt resigned, and UmaSofia Srivastava, the Miss Teen USA 2023, shortly after, citing a conflict between her personal and the organization’s principles.
In the meanwhile, Miss Mississippi Teen USA The winner of Miss Teen USA 2024 is Addie Carver. Ava Colindres of Georgia, the first runner-up, and Rachael McLaen of Arizona, the second runner-up, were among the finalists.
