With a second-half double in a 6-3 victory over the Rest of the World at Soccer Aid, the former Dragons’ Den investor lit the England XI on fire.
The 31-year-old businessman demonstrated his commitment to his own health by scoring at Stamford Bridge three minutes after being introduced by fellow joint boss Robbie Williams and Chelsea great Frank Lampard.
After a careless touch, Bartlett made a good one by charging into the left side of the box and lasing a left-footed shot under goalkeeper Tony Bellew, a former boxer.
The well-known podcaster, 31, then scored a brilliant second goal and came dangerously close to scoring a hat-trick as England celebrated their first Soccer Aid victory since 2018.
And with only a few days to Euro 2024, a different viewer said, “I’m in shock. There’s an all-time goal from Steven Bartlett. Put him aboard the aircraft.”
A third mentioned his consistent advocacy for healthy products and a holistic way of living.
“If it weren’t for Huel, the nutritionally complete meal that keeps Steven Bartlett going, even at his busiest,” he joked, “that goal wouldn’t have happened.”
While supporters carried on making jokes about Lampard’s tactical adjustments, one expressed annoyance at having to wait so long for Bartlett to appear.
He tweeted: “Thanks for finally putting one of the best players on after 71 minutes.”
However, a playful allusion was made to the dubious involvement of Bellew, the Merseyside goalkeeper, in Bartlett’s opening goal.
He had written: “English man winning it for England…. And he’s in goals for the World XI.”
